SimAWS.

Learn cloud systems by running them

01 / The idea

A deterministic browser simulation of the AWS control plane, with console tasks validated against the account state you build.

SimAWS is a private learning project that makes cloud concepts inspectable without requiring an AWS account. A browser-based console uses Cloudscape while a deterministic engine models resource state and validates tasks against the account the learner constructed. Local project documentation describes implemented IAM, S3, EC2 and VPC scope. It is a simulation rather than an actual AWS environment; additional services remain an expansion direction. The important design choice is separating the control-plane engine from the console so behavior can be checked independently of the interface.

02 / What matters
  • 01

    Deterministic browser control-plane simulation

  • 02

    Console and engine remain separate

  • 03

    Tasks check the account state

  • 04

No real AWS resources are provisioned
